As many of you know, the MX Music Guide is a very cool resource for the DC scene. It is a free guide and has a distribution of over 15,000. The publisher of MX, Gordon White, is currently offering local bands half-price, full-page ads in the live music section. I've heard it said that he treats bands like kings! The deadline for the next issue is April 18 so if you are interested contact Gordon today at 301.212.9866!

Walther Productions, one of the nation's leading grass roots promoters, is making a considerable expansion into Washington, D.C., a market the company has long coveted. After several years of concentrating its club and theater booking efforts to concert halls in and around its Baltimore home base, Walther's steady presence will soon be felt at several venues in the D.C. market as well.

Walther Productions has already teamed up with The Garage (formerly the Roxy) and placed tickets on sale for four new shows there, with more Washington venues to be announced shortly.

The arrival on the Washington scene caps a remarkable year in which Walther Productions was pivotal in launching the historic Recher Theatre in Towson, Md., as a live, original music venue, while staging four major outdoor music and camping festivals in three different states.

Washington is hardly new territory for Walther Productions. In 1995 and 1996, Walther led streetwise promotion campaigns for 50 shows at the Bayou with Cellar Door Entertainment that together, averaged sellout capacity. The next two years, Walther helped produce the annual Fourth of July Hemp Coalition Concert on the Mall. The entry into the Garage will mark the first time Walther Productions has produced club shows in Washington, D.C. Walther Productions will continue to produce at two Baltimore venues - the Recher and the 8x10.
